How to Apply

We manage a number of funds, many with their own individual criteria, and some which relate to specific geographical areas of Wales. Please visit our grants page where you’ll be able to assess whether your project is eligible for a specific fund as well as obtain information about current and forthcoming grants rounds.

If you are uncertain about whether you meet the criteria for any of our named funds you are welcome to submit a short paragraph briefing of your project via email to mail@cfiw.org.uk. We will endeavour to match your proposal to available funding and contact you if further information is required.

A complete application must include the following supporting information:

  • Financial accounts, or equivalent record of income and expenditure, for the last two years (if available)
  • A signed and dated constitution or Memorandum/Articles of Association
  • A signed and dated Child Protection Policy, along with designated CPP Officer, if working with children
  • Supporting information evidencing proposed costs of project

Please note, where possible we encourage online applications since this helps us process your funding request more efficiently. We do, however, insist that you also send a signed hard-copy by post, including the required supporting information, before any grant can be considered.

Please bear in mind that most of the grants we award are under £5000 with the average grant amount ranging from £1000 to £2000. We do, however, occasionally administer grants of up to £10,000 for projects which demonstrate exceptional worth and charitable impact.

We also manage specific programmes for clients which award grants of £10,000 - £100,000. Please contact us for further information.

Each application submitted will be considered by the grants team, and if eligible they will be forwarded to a grants panel for assessment. If you have not heard from us after 3 months please assume that we have been unable to match your application to available funding on this occasion. We will, however, keep your application on file and review it periodically against available funds.
