Foundation responds to local communities suffering from recent flooding

In response to the extensive flooding across Wales this Winter, the Community Foundation in Wales has set up a Flood Recovery Fund to help strengthen communities as they recover from the hardship and challenges arising from recent floods, tidal surge  and storm damage.

The Foundation’s Flood Recovery Fund will build on the immediate relief efforts and emergency funding. It will focus on supporting organisations which help local people whose lives, livelihoods and community activities have been damaged.  Where there are specific donations to the Fund, individuals and small businesses will also benefit.

Foundation Chief Executive Liza Kellett explains,

“Welsh communities are very resilient, and the storms and floods this Winter have tested this and shown local action and support at its best.  As the Community Foundation for Wales, our purpose is to strengthen local communities by promoting and managing philanthropy.  Along with several sister community foundations in the UK, we have set up our Flood Recovery Fund thanks to interest and donations from people who want to help rebuild the community infrastructure in areas badly affected by winter storms. It is thanks to their concern and desire to help, that this new Fund has been established.”

Funding has already been targeted to benefit people suffering from recent flood damage to their homes. Details on how organisations can apply for a grant can be found here

To make a donation to the Community Foundation in Wales Flood Recovery Fund,

Thank you for your support
