The Foundation’s friends and allies came together at the Palace of Westminster on Wednesday in celebration of the work of the Community Foundation in Wales.
Welcoming our London guests, Chairman Janet Lewis-Jones shared the news that the Foundation has achieved its first ‘million pound donor’. She also thanked the Big Lottery Fund for its match challenge dedicated to stimulate endowment giving in Wales.
The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Wales, Baroness Randerson, congratulated the Foundation on awarding more than £2million in grants to over 300 organisations last year, and emphasised the importance that philanthropy plays in strengthening communities and supporting local people. Lady Randerson also commented on how delighted she was to learn that since announcing the Fund for Wales Big match challenge on St David’s Day last year - when the Fund stood at £300,000 – Wales’s unique national community endowment fund now stands at £2.25 million.
The Fund for Wales is creating a community of donors whose gifts - of all sizes and from all over the world - nurture Welsh culture, heritage and environment, and improve the lives of people across Wales. For more information on the Fund for Wales and how to give please visit www.fundforwales.org.uk
