Halen Mon host High Sheriff of Gwynedd Giving Circle
In celebration of his Shrievalty year, the High Sheriff of Gwynedd invited local charties to demonstrate the impact of their work in an interesting and fun evening at the soon-to-open Salt Cote at his very own Halen Mon. Halen Mon Anglesey Sea Salt has become an internationally recognised leader in the purveyance of salt of supreme quality. Guests were invited to a sneak preview of Wales’ only Salt Cote, set amongst the coastal beauty of the Menai Straits, and due to open this Spring.
Five charities from the local area, Newborough Forest Project, North Wales Wildlife Trust, Wales Air Ambulance Crimebeat North Wales and the Bro Aberffraw Fourteen programme, relayed the benefits of their work to guests. Thanks to the support of the High Sheriff of Gwynedd and donations from guests these charities were awarded over £1,800 each.
In addition to the Giving Circle element of the evening, Christine Garwood, a local painter, donated a piece which was auctioned with proceeds being donated to the Giving Circle pot.
As well as supporting local chairties the evening also supported local businesses with Fish & Chips from the infamous Enochs of Llandudno, canapes were supplied by local bistro the Marrom Grass and dessert was served in the form of artisan ice lollies from Menai Bridge locals Ace Lolly.
Thanks to the support of the Pears Foundation the Community Foundation in Wales was able to match fund £5,000, bringing the total raised from this giving circle to around £10,000.
Outgoing High Sheriff David Lea-Wilson spoke of his joy at the “discovery through the Community Foundation in Wales” of “small local initatives that benefit the people who live in Gwynedd, one of the most beautiful parts of Wales.”
