Community Foundation Network (CFN) is a registered charity committed to stronger communities in the UK. It works with and through the UK’s community foundations. It represents community foundations, adds value to the work of members and leads the national development of community philanthropy.
CFN’s goal is to see community foundations in aggregate and individually providing a unique channel for donors of all kinds to engage with their communities and each other on a lasting basis. Community foundations are catalysts of social change, making community philanthropy compelling and engaging local people in making communities better places to live, work and do business. Community foundations fund, connect and convene effective charitable activity that creates stronger and more cohesive communities.
The network of community foundations manages £225m of long term charitable funds on behalf of 2,500 significant private sector fundholders (up 50% on the previous year). Last year community foundations invested £74m across the UK in 26,000 local community based charities. Collectively, this makes Community Foundations the fifth largest funder of voluntary organisations and community groups in the UK.
