UK Community Foundations' goal is to see community foundations providing a unique channel for donors of all kinds to engage with their communities and each other on a lasting basis. Community foundations are catalysts of social change, making community philanthropy compelling and engaging local people in making communities better places to live, work and do business. Community foundations fund, connect and convene effective charitable activity that creates stronger and more cohesive communities.
The UK Community Foundation comprises 55 community foundations covering all parts of the UK. Last year Community Foundations in the UK collectively distributed £52.1 million through 20,577 grants to community groups and organisations. At March 2012, £309 million is collectively held in endowment funds by Community Foundations on behalf of donors – together we form the fifth largest funder in the UK of the voluntary and community sector!
